dMAT preparation that matches the exam
dMAT preparation comes down to two things: knowing each task family cold, and being fast enough under the exam’s own clock. dMAT.practice is built for both — an online bank of 2,858 original dMAT practice questions with a worked answer on every item, and 15 full-length dMAT mock tests timed section by section the way the real papers are. Everything is designed with the official dMAT sample questions in mind — the same mechanisms, conventions and drawing style — but nothing here is copied from the dMAT or from g.a.s.t.’s materials. This is an independent study aid, not an official training document, and it has no connection to g.a.s.t., APS India or any university.
dMAT exam pattern and syllabus
The dMAT — the digital Master Test — is an academic aptitude test developed by German universities with g.a.s.t., the body behind TestDaF and TestAS. In the APS India process it takes over the role TestAS played: from the Summer Semester 2027 intake, Indian graduates in engineering, commerce, economics, business and management fields applying to Master’s programmes at German universities sit the dMAT as part of obtaining their APS certificate. The test is taken in English at test centres in India and scored from 0 to 200 with no pass mark — universities read the score alongside the rest of the application. The pattern is a Core Module of three 25-minute subtests — figure sequences, mathematical equations and Latin squares, 20 items each — followed by a 90-minute General Academic Module; a full sitting runs 165 minutes.
The four task families
- Figure sequences (figure matrices) — four observed matrices resolve to a paired fifth and sixth; six A–F alternatives, drawn exactly as printed.
- Mathematical equations — simultaneous constraints over integer unknowns; elimination beats guessing.
- Latin squares — each letter once per row and column, a single missing cell, longer chains as the tiers rise.
- General Academic Module (GAM) — short academic sources with five linked questions each, across the four established question families.
How to prepare for the dMAT
Learn the mechanisms untimed first: the practice modules run Easy → Medium → Hard with an instant worked note on every answer, so you see the method, not just the key. Then add the clock — any Core section can be sat alone as a 25-minute exam block, the pace of the real subtests. Finish with full 165-minute mock papers under auto-submit, and drill whatever you missed from your saved items. The jump from untimed accuracy to timed accuracy is most of the game.
Free sample questions vs paid practice
g.a.s.t. publishes a small set of free official dMAT sample questions on the official dMAT preparation page, and they are the right place to start — they define the exam. A handful of samples will not build speed, though. dMAT.practice is the volume behind them: 2,858 questions and 15 mock papers for ₹799, paid once, for 12 months of access. No subscription, and everything added to the bank in that time is included.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the dMAT?
- The digital Master Test — an academic aptitude test developed by German universities with g.a.s.t., the body behind TestDaF and TestAS. From the Summer Semester 2027 intake, Indian graduates in engineering, commerce, economics, business and management fields applying to German Master’s programmes sit it as part of APS India verification. It has a Core Module — figure sequences (20 items, 25 minutes), mathematical equations (20 items, 25 minutes) and Latin squares (20 items, 25 minutes) — plus a 90-minute General Academic Module of short academic texts with four-option questions, is sat in English at test centres in India, and is scored 0 to 200 with no pass mark.
- Is this official?
- No. dMAT.practice is an independent study aid from NinjaMinds Software Solutions — not an official training document, and not connected to g.a.s.t., APS India or any university. For registration, dates and rules use the official sites: the official dMAT India page, the official dMAT terms and exam-day rules, and APS India's dMAT page.
- How do the mock tests work?
- Each of our mock papers is 120 items — 20 figure sequences, 20 equation systems, 20 Latin squares and 60 General Academic Module questions — timed section by section exactly as the exam is — 25 minutes for each Core subtest, 90 for the General Academic Module, 165 in all — with auto-submit, scored on submission with the worked note for every item. Any Core section can also be sat alone as a 25-minute block, the pace of the real subtests.
- Are the mocks harder than the real dMAT?
- Some are, on purpose. The papers run in tiers — Standard, Medium, Hard and Very hard — and the top tiers are set a notch above the real test, so that the sitting itself feels easier. The clock is always the exam’s own.
- Where do the questions come from?
- They are original items, designed with the official sample tasks in mind and not copied from the dMAT or from g.a.s.t.’s materials — 2,858 in all, with every figure sequence drawn to the exam’s conventions. We check every item and its worked note, but we do not guarantee the material is free of errors; anything under review is withheld.
- Can I practise one section at a time?
- Yes. Practice modules for each mechanism are banded Easy → Medium → Hard and run untimed with instant worked feedback; anything you miss can be drilled again from your saved items.
- What does access cost?
- ₹799, paid once through a secure payment gateway, for 12 months of access to the whole bank — and everything added to it in that time is included. No subscription.
- What information do you collect?
- Your email address, through Sign in with Google — nothing else. No password, no form. Card and UPI details are entered in the payment provider’s own secure window and never reach this site, and your progress stays in your browser. You can delete your account at any time; that ends access at once and is not refunded.
